Whew!

What a day! Mitch and I finally had a chance to get the nursery/kid's room together. It was a bit of a chore, as we are moving the kids into what once was the computer/sewing room, and vice versa. So, first the two rooms had to be sort of packed up, so that we could do the switch. The computer room was a wreck!!!!! And I never want to think about that closet again... Anyway, we managed it and have the kids' room mostly put together. Here's Myra's corner.
The crib will eventually fill the space where the swing currently resides, but it will spend the first few months in our room (easier for nighttime nursing and won't disturb Logan). Also, we don't actually have it yet. :-) Jim and Jennie have one that they are not using right now, so we're very grateful to not have to buy one!

Here is Logan's side of the room.
Yep, all green. That's my boy...And here is Logan, checking out his new closet, and wearing his favorite green monkey shirt. You just can't get better than green monkeys!

It is still a bit of a work in progress. I have castle curtains to make, shelves to hang, and an adorable green chalkboard to hang for Logan! But, at least the worst part - moving the rooms around - is over!!!

My baby shower was yesterday (which may have partly prompted the move today!), and I had such fun! I have such great friends! Myra is going to be the best dressed little princess around, and have the cutest nursery ever, thanks to my friends.

Win Baby carriers!!

For those who have been around me lately, you know that I have a complete obsession with baby carriers and babywearing. In fact, I just got off the sewing machine where I am working on a ring sling for a friend. I ran across this link today and wanted to share, for those who love to babywear, or who just are looking to start, this is an AMAZING collection - and you can win it!!

Win the Essential Babywearing Stash from Along for the Ride (one Beco Butterfly, one Hotsling baby pouch, one BabyHawk Mei Tai, one Zolowear Ring Sling, and one Gypsy Mama Wrap)

I am going to admit to being greedy and hope that it comes to me, but if one of my friends wins, that is awesome, too!!

Big Boy Bed

Well, we took the plunge and converted Logan's crib into a Toddler bed. After much discussion and deliberation, we had actually decided to wait, since there is about to be so much upheaval in his life, but when I walked into his room to find him perched precariously halfway between the rocking chair and the upper rail of his crib, we decided it was time! He's such a monkey! Anyway, the deed is done, and so far, Logan loves it! Here he is jumping on his new bed. The bed didn't actually come with a safety rail, so Mitch managed to engineer quite a nice one out of a 1x3 board. It doesn't match, but it is nice and secure, and well sanded. Maybe we'll paint it at some point. We'll see.
Here is the wee prince, fast asleep in his new bed. Note that his favorite color is prominent. He loves green! I'm not entirely sure how I feel about all this. My little man is growing up so fast!

Fishie, part 2

Mitch got to come to swim lessons today! We had lots of fun, although Logan was not in top form, her still had a good time. Since there were two of us, we had a chance to take pictures and some video! Here are Mitch and Logan, just hanging out.And here I am with the wee man.Mitch, tossing Logan into the air. He was a fan of that!!Logan, up high! And playing with Bo and Mason Cochran. His very favorite part - jumping off the diving board!!! He has no fear, and just runs down the board and jumps off, even when you might not really be ready... It gives Mom a little anxiety!
All in all, we had a great time! We also took some video, which I'll get around to posting on YouTube.

The Belly

Well, here it is. My Myra belly at 32 4/7 weeks. I feel like I haven't really been that big - at least until the last few days! Suddenly, I am feeling VERY pregnant. Thanks to my snoogle body pillow I am still sleeping OK, but it is getting harder and harder to get around and do all of my usual stuff. 7 1/2 more weeks and counting!!

Also of note, I finally made something for myself! My parents got me a gift card to Hancock's Fabric for my birthday, and so far, I have bought this lovely coral knit that I made into the tee shirt that I am wearing in the picture. It is so soft and comfy!!! I also got myself the cute cherry fabric that I made the tote below out of. I got much more than I ended up needing (mostly because I tweaked the pattern so many ways - who ever heard of an unlined tote bag? I'd just end up with cheerios and fruit snacks stuck in the seam allowances!), so I am going to make a little top for Myra out of what is left. I got a cute pattern on Friday for a top with contrast detail and I think it will be adorable!! But that will have to wait - there is green fabric awaiting my attention...

More to come...

Green!!!

...is Logan's favorite color right now. We hear it all the time, especially when driving. He loves to be a helpful backseat driver and remind me when the light turns green. I admit, he has actually caught me a few times doing bad Mommy habits and not paying attention to the light, but when else am I supposed to rummage through my bag looking for goldfish crackers? Green is also his favorite color for clothing. He has really developed his own opinion lately about what he wants to wear, and the usual answer is - anything, as long as it is green! I have also let him pick out his fabric the last couple of times that we went fabric shopping, and, you guessed it, GREEN! Actually, he seems to favor a particularly bright sort of lime green - I call it radioactive - that those of us who remember the 80's will recall with something less than fondness. That said, I made him a green tee shirt yesterday that he loves, despite the fact that it is enormous on him. Add to that another gripe of mine - Why, when a size 2 McCall's pattern that I used for something else fit him perfectly, is this one built for a baby linebacker??? Well, Logan doesn't care that it is gigantic, he loves it anyway. I recently decided that I would try out the matching thing (inspired by Amanda and her adorable kiddos), and make a button down shirt for Logan and a dress for Myra to coordinate. I let him pick the fabric... I cannot describe it adequately. I'll have to post a picture later. It is amazing... Needless to say, I'll be burning a few more retinal cells making up this one. It's a good thing I have plenty of radioactive green thread. I'm gonna need it!
Kids are so fun!
